吳德榮說，影響氣候變遷的因素很多，且很多都是無法被電腦正確模擬的，如太陽黑子的變化、火山的活躍程度，都是未知數，遇上溫室氣體的變化，假設以各種不同的條件，讓超級電腦來作完整的模擬，暖化繼續或者進入小冰期，都是可能的，基於「風險管理」的觀念，應該要支持控制溫室氣體才是。
