勞保局表示，長期在國外或大陸居住工作的勞工，不符合《勞工保險條例》加保規定，一旦查明屬實，不僅會取消加保資格、年資無法併計，已繳保費不會退還，還會影響日後領取勞保各項給付的權益，每年都有案例發生。到國外或在大陸居住工作，薪資非原投保的公司支付，勞保必須退保，就算改加入職業工會加保，年資也無法延續。
