此為《剪蛹的人》寓言故事。但蝴蝶羽化後無法順利飛行，是因未順利展翅，和是否「人為剪蛹」並無直接關聯。
蝴蝶剛羽化時，必須採取倒垂或斜掛，將肚子中的體液灌入翅膀中，才能使柔軟的翅膀順利展翅，直到完全乾燥硬化，待體溫回升後便可以飛行。若蝴蝶羽化後始終在地面爬行，或過程中受到傷害，則會因此無法飛行。
