特斯拉是馬丁·艾伯哈德和馬克·塔彭寧創立的汽車公司，並非源自台灣，且2003年才創立，不可能於2000年從台灣移往美國。但特斯拉確實曾經仰賴林口工業區代工的馬達與電控系統並成立台灣分公司，只是在2009年底已將產線移回加州。
