根據交通安全規則規定，夜間、行經隧道或調撥車道時應開亮頭燈；遇濃霧、雨、雪、天色昏暗或視線不清時，也應開亮頭燈；非遇雨、霧時不得使用霧燈。若是違規恐處1200元以上、3600元以下罰鍰。由於霧燈是發散光源，照射距離較近、照度強，如果在視線良好的情況下開霧燈，容易造成對向車車主產生眩光作用，影響行車安全。
