此次新聞報導的台中大坑眼鏡蛇為中華眼鏡蛇，原生分佈包含了台灣全島。台灣目前有記錄的外來種眼鏡蛇為埃及眼鏡蛇，但其並非此次觀察到的眼鏡蛇。
