目前已有動物試驗證實，注射幹細胞後能轉變為可以製造胰島素的β细胞，實驗鼠也因此可維持正常血糖9-12個月，但目前仍待進一步的大型動物試驗，未來也須人體臨床試驗才能證實療效。
