國內疫情持續嚴峻，中央流行疫情指揮中心今（17）日宣布，本土新增1210例確診個案，連日確診數破千例，就有專家預估，全台可能會有20至30%的人染疫，未來總確診數恐達百萬。對此，指揮中心指揮官陳時中也以國外的數據來做說明。
按照各國開放病毒共存的經驗紀錄，會有1/3的人口數確診，所以台灣將會有800萬人陸續確診，現在只有不到3萬人，後面有一段時間，確診數發佈會讓人麻痺無感了。
