1964年，美國航空母艦Card確實遭2名越共游擊隊安裝炸彈襲擊，但並未沈沒，反而是迅速修復，1964年12月11日即重新服役。當時，海軍潛水員調查發現哈格森爆破包的遺骸，表明游擊隊可能是使用被盜的美國軍火。

影片後段也有提及，當時北越以此次攻擊大肆宣傳，但宣傳內容中提及的船體受損、人員傷亡資訊均與現實不符。
