現在的日本並沒有容許兄妹結婚，日本民法第734條、第735條規定不得與直系血親或三親等內旁系血親結婚;中華人民共和國婚姻法第7條則規定直系血親和三代以内(四親等內)的旁系血親禁止結婚，相較之下中國的禁婚親規定實際上比日本嚴格。
