目前未有疫苗或藥物可用來預防與治療冠狀病毒感染。建議的預防措施與其他呼吸道感染相同，包括勤洗手、妥善處理口鼻分泌物等等。根據衛福部提供的資料，在治療方面，目前所有的冠狀病毒並無特定推薦的治療方式，多為採用支持性療法。這則訊息是因為Dr. Vladimir Zelenko曾透過影片介紹他的治療成果。但是其實新冠肺炎沒有特效藥，羥氯喹（hydroxychloroquine）的效用仍缺乏臨床數據。目前還需要更多有力的證據才能應用在實際治療過程中。
