它的名字叫作爪哇藍蕉(Blue java)，成熟前的果皮確實是藍色，成熟後果皮還是會為轉淡黃色。這個品種起源於東南亞，後來傳播到澳洲北部。夏威夷人稱它「冰淇淋香蕉」、斐濟人則稱它為「夏威夷香蕉」。
