不少民眾瘋吃蒟蒻瘦身,網路傳言蒟蒻內含生物鹼,大量食用有神經毒性,嚴重者恐抑制呼吸致命。林口長庚醫院臨床毒物科主任顏宗海說,蒟蒻的主要成分為葡萄甘露聚糖,目前沒有任何證據顯示蒟蒻有神經毒性,網路傳言應為無稽之談,但提醒年長者、小孩吃蒟蒻應適量,以免吞嚥時噎到或造成腸道阻塞。

顏宗海表示,低熱量、低脂肪的蒟蒻在國外被視為減重食物,另有調整血糖的功效,但蒟蒻吃下肚後會在腸胃道內吸收水分,大量食用恐造成腸道阻塞,且正在用藥的糖尿病患,應避免食用大量蒟蒻致低血糖。
