假的。這個故事又有多種變體，都在說是自己親身經歷或朋友經歷，而作者各不相同。 有的說故事發生在法蘭克福、柏林，有的說請客的人是朋友，因為聊天沒太吃菜，還有的說是赴德旅遊。 有的說追出來的是服務員，服務員認為菜不吃完是對他們勞動的不尊重於是叫來了一個制服人員，有的說來了好幾個制服人員。 罰單數額有的又說是50歐元。
