April 15 7:30 a.m. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found a mere 5,800 cases of COVID-19 for the 66 million people who have gotten fully vaccinated so far, the Wall Street Journal reports. To put that into perspective, more than 99.2% of people who got the vaccine did not get infected. Many of the so-called "breakthrough" cases, referring to those who were sickened by the virus despite full vaccination, were mild.

The CDC found that of the 5,800 cases, more than 40% were in people older than 60; 65% were in female patients. Nearly 30% were asymptomatic. Of those, just under 400 were severely ill and 74 died. For context, that's one millionth of a percent of the number of Americans fully inoculated.
