敷面膜的原理是透過密閉作用，讓膚溫上升增加吸收率，此時毛孔會打開，吸收保養品的速度會增加10~100倍，但是在海島型國家，片狀面膜都一定會添加些許防腐劑和添加物保持它不會發霉，所以敷完面膜建議還是要稍微用清水沖洗。
