海鮮常含有Omega-3脂肪酸,美國心臟醫學會(AHA)推薦若發生過冠狀動脈疾病或心衰竭,攝取可以降低三酸甘油酯和復發機會,但是Omega-3無法降低膽固醇。不過,美國心臟醫學會建議,若要控制飲食來降低膽固醇,每天熱量攝取中飽和脂肪的含量應該小於6%,且不可攝取反式脂肪,那麼營養價值方面,墨魚、蝦、章魚的飽和脂肪熱量比例分別為7.6%、2.2%、4.5%,算是飽和脂肪含量相對較低的蛋白質來源。
