工業產業佔本區總就業人口43%，主要分布在東太平南方與大里區相連的大里工業區、南太平東北方的太平工業區、以及南太平西南方的工業地區，以生產機械設備、鋁製品及塑膠製品為主。目前臺中市政府正著手規劃太平產業園區的設置。
