健保署澄清表示，此說法是錯誤的，健保卡只能在國內使用，「無法在國外使用」；雖然在國外看病不能使用我國健保卡，但若是不可預期的緊急傷病，返國後可向健保局申請「自墊醫療費用核退申請書」，並檢附相關單據，於境外看病當天起算6個月內提出申請才能核退。

【錯誤消息】健保卡只有在台、澎、金、馬地區的健保特約醫事服務機構才可使用，在國外尚不得使用健保卡。
