假的，這並不是真正的雞蛋。原產於非洲的雞蛋茄，其實與一般茄子相同，只是顏色及形狀不同，最令人感到格外驚奇的事情，就是結出的漿果形狀與雞蛋相似，橢圓形、長約5公分，比普通茄子的外皮硬，若不食用也相當具有觀賞價值。

這個是白蛋茄又叫金銀茄，為一年生草本植物。果實入藥、食用。是一種茄科、茄屬類植物，果實小巧鮮艷，像極了白鴨蛋，還可觀賞入藥等！具有很多優良性狀。果實品質好，含乾物質多，營養價值高。而且種植上具有其它茄子難以比擬的優勢。抗旱、抗病能力強，適於溫室和大田種植，也可用來盆栽觀賞。
