老人健保補助由社會局主動審查，民眾無需另外申請。
社會局於長者首次年齡及設籍符合時，將主動查調審查補助相關資格，符合老人健保自付額補助資格者，由社會局代為將補助款撥付給中央健康保險署(每人每月以第六類保險對象自付額749元為補助上限)，不會直接撥付補助款給長者。
