自102年7月1日起，除職業駕駛人、外國人及年滿75歲高齡駕駛人…等須定期換照外，其餘駕駛人免再定期換發駕照。但自113年10月31日起，針對違規情節較嚴重而受有駕照吊銷禁考處分6年以上、受吊銷禁考處分未達6年、受吊扣1年以上或吊扣未達1年之駕駛人，應參加道安講習及結清違規罰鍰後，方能重新考照或換照。在禁考期滿重新考照或吊扣期滿換發駕照後，將分別核發或換發1、2、3或6年之短期駕照，並在6年觀察期
