台灣身分證最快將於2020年全面使用晶片式身分證，此次改版將融入性平意識，並採用數字「0」為身分證號碼開頭讓跨性別人士使用，藉此凸顯台灣重視各性別、跨性別民眾的人權，此外也將同時解決外籍人士在台居留證跟國人不同的問題。
