2021 年開始，歐盟確實會將原本免簽的 61 國家，改為須線上申請 ETIAS 才能進入。但是這樣的措施是否為「免簽沒了」，端看個人解釋。

確實 2021 年開始，包含美國、加拿大、新加坡、日本、澳洲與台灣等原本免簽的 61 國家，均得申請 ETIAS 才能入境。但是， ETIAS 的目的類似美國 ESTA，而美國 ESTA 也被稱作一種「免簽證計劃」，故即使要申請 ETIAS，仍可以解釋為「免簽」。
