網路流傳「雞蛋殼上長斑的雞蛋最好不要吃,因為這種長斑點的雞蛋,很可能是因為感染了細菌」,農委會表示此訊息並不正確。
學者指出,雞蛋有二層天然的保護膜,蛋殼黏膜與蛋殼膜可以保護雞蛋不受病原菌感染,因此雞蛋的內容物蛋黃及蛋白是安全的,母雞於產蛋期間容易受到環境溫度、營養、緊迫等因素影響,導致蛋殼厚薄、顏色差異,又蛋殼斑點、顏色則因品種而異,但基本上屬於自然現象不至於影響雞蛋品質,更不能依據蛋殼上斑點來判斷有被沙門氏菌感染。
