對於油漱口的功效，台北市牙醫師公會前理事長陳義聰、台北市牙醫師公會口醫委員會主委王俊勝均表示，從未聽過類似說法，醫學上也沒有相關實證。不論漱口或漱油，只是輔助排出食物殘渣，對於維護口腔衛生，不是關鍵功能；至於排毒的說法，他也不認同。
由於缺乏嚴謹的實證醫學支持，油漱口並不能取代傳統潔牙方式，作為維持口腔衛生的替代性選項。
