原始新聞中有「這起烏龍警訊，也讓疾管局損失了1千萬元的發訊費用」這樣的描述。疾管署在 2019/7/9 即時澄清，電信業者配合政府發送｢災防告警細胞廣播訊息服務」(PWS)是義務（免費的），沒有浪費公帑的問題。

後來中國時報也更正該則新聞，將新聞中金額損失的部分刪除。
