公路總局表示，近來坊間流傳「只要領有職業駕照駕駛租賃車輛，加入Uber就不違法」，是錯誤訊息，並說，不論是領有職業駕照民眾自行承租租賃車輛或小客車租賃業僱用駕駛人非提供租車服務，而加入Uber從事計程車載客，均是屬違反《公路法》及《汽車運輸業管理規則》規定的違規營業行為。
