台鐵列車6432次普悠瑪號21日下午4時50分經蘇澳新馬車列車出軌造成翻覆，造成18人死亡。對於事故原因，旅客反映，意外發生前有聽到廣播說車輛異常，而在月台候車的目擊者表示，事故列車行經過新馬站時，發出嘎嘎奇怪聲，且後面車廂出現火花。台鐵指出，事故列車去年剛完成保養及檢修，目前要等取得行車紀錄器影片才能確定事故原因是否是車速過快。 據警消救援情況顯示，翻覆的第5至8節車廂死傷最為嚴重。（
