武漢肺炎疫情釀口罩荒，食藥署最新研究發現，含有不織布、活性碳或是可防PM2.5材質的布口罩，細菌過濾率可達80%以上，通勤族可用來自我防護，但若要到醫院仍建議戴醫用口罩。

根據醫療器材管理法，醫用口罩細菌過濾率至少要達到95%以上才可取得醫材許可證，外科口罩為了因應手術中可能遇到的飛沫、體液，還多了防止血液噴濺、抗燃燒等功用。由於2021產能充足，還是建議戴醫用口罩，確保防護效果。
