目前最常使用的輔具補助共有兩種，一是『身心障礙者輔具費用補助』，也就是無論年紀，只要具備身心障礙手冊或證明就能申請；另一是『失能老人輔具費用補助』，補助65歲以上的失能老人購買各式輔具。身心障礙者輔具補助有172項項目，失能老人輔具補助有39項項目(以台北市為例)，每種項目的補助對象、補助金額、使用年限，其他規定都不同，如果想知道完整的輔具補助資訊，可以查詢輔具資源入口網，或去電詢問身心障礙者戶籍地的縣市政府社會處(局)或輔具資源中心
