台獨不等於避戰或是上戰場，這是政治宣傳，試圖結合賴清德過去的台灣國際地位言論與既有的兩岸軍事威脅恫嚇民眾，賴清德於2017年9月26日以行政院身分至立法院備詢時稱，他是主張台灣獨立的政治工作者，也是務實的台獨主義者，「我們已經是主權獨立國家，名字叫中華民國，不會另行宣布台灣獨立。」。
