地震到目前為止都無法預測，且台灣地震科學觀測史從1897年開始，迄今也才百年出頭而已，用久遠歷史文獻推斷地震發生，較沒有科學根據。不過當然要注意大地震發生，也會盡量研究或分析、監測哪些地方可能有地震，但實際上，學者言論只能作為參考。
