錫箔紙兩面都不會引起中毒。亮面與霧面有反射率的差異是物理上能被理解的事實，但用錯面會導致鋁中毒的說法仍為譁眾取寵的誇大不實謠言。如果錫箔紙亮面與霧面會對健康造成中毒如此嚴重的差別，那不可能普及數十年至今而錫箔紙包裝上全無任何警語與使用說明。而且如果有這樣容易帶來健康危害，那製造商更不被允許生產時讓錫箔紙有亮面與霧面的差異。
