南投醫院藥劑科主任林鴻昌提醒民眾，切勿自行購買藥物服用，他並指出Cimetidine是一種「H2接受器拮抗劑」，具有抑制胃酸分泌作用、減少胃部刺激，對潰瘍的止痛及癒合有效果，但是Cimetidine會產生抗雄性素作用，長期使用可能導致男性性功能障礙、男性女乳症、頭痛頭暈、關節炎等副作用。
