鉛中毒的確可能有文中敘述的病徵，但台灣早在2005年就公告化妝品中不得添加鉛、砷及其化合物，並在2014年修改殘留量規定，鉛含量不得超過10ppm，砷則不得超過3ppm。購買化妝品不論管道與產地，應該確定有遵循FDA（美國食品藥品監督管理局）或台灣衛生福利部食品藥物管理署規定的產品再購買。
