1920年由水利奇才八田與一與當時技師打造的西口小瑞士「天井漩渦」。係因日治時期興建嘉南大圳，因烏山頭水庫水源不族，故建立引水道，將東口之曾文溪水，導入溪口在注入水庫。當水位較高時，水會流入天井中央，快速旋轉而下，因此形成了「天井瀑布」的奇觀。但這並不是世上唯二的景觀。
