「月球獵人」並非正式的天文或氣象名詞。地球自轉軸的確每分每秒都在移動，此種現象稱為極移，是地球上大氣、地殼與海洋等物質移動效應綜合而成。不過，上述所提到的大氣光學現象，是因為太陽光經過高空中的小冰晶折射後所形成之現象，需要大氣中的水氣、風速等條件配合才會發生，與時時刻刻都在進行的地球極點飄移並沒有關係。
