建議不需要迷信，台灣民間流傳七月為鬼月的說法，但實際上這是沒有根據的說法。為了慈善積德、安撫孤魂、化解仇恨，臺灣在清代晚期開始形成普渡死難者的大型祭祀活動。日治前期的臺灣舊慣調查中，將農曆七月稱為「鬼月」，也並不普遍。因此由歷史證據可知「鬼月」其實是現代產物，只有這幾十年來流行此說法。
