據英國《泰晤士報》，有民眾搶劫醫護人員的身分證件，以盜領購物優惠，也有數名醫護人員被當作「病毒傳播者」遭民眾惡意吐口水。澳洲也傳出有人攻擊醫護人員，並惡意咳嗽、出言侮辱。
為避免類似情形發生，有醫院建議醫護盡量不要出示或配戴會表露身分的徽章、證件，也不要在公共場合穿著制服。
針對攻擊事件，英國國民保健署 NHS Borders 已在Facebook發布貼文，請民眾善待醫護人員。NHS首席護理官Ruth May也出面譴責這些攻擊事件。
