根據美國疾病管制暨預防中心（CDC）說法，接觸金屬或塑膠等物體表面也可能感染上面的病毒而罹患2019冠狀病毒疾病。不過據信這種感染途徑並不常見。因此不論是紙幣或是硬幣、手機悠遊卡支付仍會有接觸疑慮，注意消毒與清潔會是比較好的。
