總統府表示，並非事實。根據相關各部會的報告，臺灣的平均餘命從1995年的男性72歲、女性78歲，增加到2014年的男性77歲、女性83歲；但是出生率卻從1995年的千分之15，降到2015年的千分之9。臺灣65歲以上老年佔人口的百分比，從1995年的7.6％，大幅提升到2015年的12.5％；人口扶老比也從1995年的11％，大幅提升到2015年的17％。換句話說，隨著人口快速老化，使得整個社會，特別是年輕世代的負擔日益沉重。陳建仁表示，年金改革的實質討論才要開始，但是網路上卻流傳許多不實的方案，讓很多人感到恐慌，企盼謠言止於智者，大家不聽信也不傳播謠言。
