日本國立感染症研究所113年6月11日提醒，溶鏈菌因出現症狀後病情迅速惡化而被稱為「食人菌」，致死率高達30%至70%的「鏈球菌中毒休克症候群」，曾有長者感染後48小時內死亡的病例。這種細菌可經飛沫傳播或傷口接觸感染，如有傷口要馬上清洗消毒，以紗布或膠布包紮，到人多地方要佩戴口罩。
