順利交配又產下卵，母魚才剛產完40至50顆以上的魚卵，公魚就需要將卵含在口中，否則就會被母魚當食物吞下肚。有時公魚判斷卵並沒成功受精，就會把卵吃掉。這只是生物習性，偉大與否是人類加上的價值判斷。
