根據官方文獻紀錄中最低死亡和失蹤總數大約有8324人到11841人之間，其中外省人死亡失蹤受傷人數加起來也只有1469人。至於228事件受難者賠償真相，不分本省外省，反倒先以公教作為賠償。陳儀確實為國民黨籍。不只陳儀官逼民反，更有蔣介石的電報為證。
