現在台灣市面上販售的蝦卵，大部分都是用柳葉魚卵來加工而成，另外昂貴的烏魚子，也可以比較便宜的明太子來做；至於生魚片也會吃到的黃金魚卵，或者烏賊包卵，也會混進比較便宜的飛魚卵或是柳葉魚卵，不是真的烏賊蛋。
