衛生福利部食品藥物管理署指出，縮水甘油是近幾年才發現的新興加工汙染物，雖然食用後不會造成立即危害，但長期還是會增加致癌風險。目前美國、日本都還沒有相關規範，僅歐盟率先訂出規定，但考量民眾食安，食藥署朝歐盟規定正研擬相關草案，將律定限量標準。
