廣東住血線蟲感染症的致病原是廣東住血線蟲，1933年陳心陶先生在中國大陸廣東省調查玄鼠（Rattus rattus）和褐鼠（Rattus norvegicus）的寄生蟲時，首先於鼠肺（肺動脈）中發現此蟲，1937年日本人松本（Matsumoto）在台灣東岸花蓮之野鼠內亦發現此蟲。感染的大鼠透過糞便排出未成熟的幼蟲（第一期幼蟲），蝸牛和蛞蝓吃了含有幼蟲的大鼠糞便而感染，幼蟲在蝸牛和蛞蝓體內發育，但不
