農委會發出澄清稿指出，芒果長黑點的病害主要是炭疽病及黑斑病，分別是受特定種類的病原真菌及細菌危害，這類只感染植物的病菌並不會感染人體。

農委會指出，芒果表面黑斑如果是輕微受損，切除受害部位仍可食用，並沒有安全疑慮。但是如果芒果已經明顯腐敗，有變色變味等情形出現時，就應該丟棄不宜再吃下肚。
