如果血鈣濃度過高會引起噁心、嘔吐、食慾不佳、尿多、腎臟毒性、慌亂、不規律心博,這些症狀會隨著血鈣濃度下降而消失。

每天攝取2500毫克的鈣質對許多健康成年人而言並不會造成危險,但對部份人可能會造成便祕,並會增加腎臟負擔及增加結石可能,尤其會影響其他礦物質的吸收(如鐵、鋅等微量礦物質),況且身體並不能吸收過量攝取的鈣質,也是一種浪費。
